A majority of people say they can’t memorize things. That is a quick excuse and quite frankly, it just isn’t true. We can memorize things we want to memorize or things that are a priority and important to us. At work we have memorized things that we do on a consistent basis. When we put our mind to something we can memorize it. Memorizing scripture gives us a better understanding of God and His will for us. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path”. When we know God’s word and obey it, we are able to experience God at a deeper level and experience the freedom that comes only through obedience. Scripture Memory can be a powerful tool to deal with the attacks of Satan. James 4:7 says, “Satan will flee from you when you submit yourself to God.” Memorizing scripture transforms our thinking to that of Christ. It plays a pivotal role in our thoughts and in the renewal of our minds. Scripture serves as our formidable defense against the deceitful assaults of the enemy. Drawing near to God is facilitated as we cherish His Word. The empowerment and wisdom bestowed upon us by God’s Word become evident.
Brew Bros is about encouragement and spiritual mentorship within Men’s Practice, outside of our large group gatherings on Saturday mornings. It is tailored for individual connection, with guys meeting one on one or in a small group during the week.
La Esperanza is a men’s rehabilitation shelter in Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point), Mexico, with which Men’s Practice has a partnership. This partnership exists because La Esperanza is a men’s shelter centered on Jesus Christ. Men’s Practice typically travels to La Esperanza for our annual Rocky Point trip each February. We also have smaller mission trips with men going to La Esperanza throughout the year. Men bond together shoulder to shoulder. Our mission trips allow the fellas from Men’s Practice to bond with power tools, hammers, and shovels.
Training Camp is an extended weekend that takes place annually in April. Training Camp is typically hosted at a camp in Northern Arizona. Chapel Rock Camp & Conference Center has hosted Men’s Practice the last three years. A featured speaker leads the teaching sessions at Training Camp. The men are divided into small groups and each small group meets after the main teaching session, one on Friday night, two on Saturday, and concluding on Sunday morning. Praise and worship takes place before each session. Many recreational activities are included. Pickleball, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, frisbee golf, fishing, hiking, archery, and corn hole are some of the involved activities throughout the weekend.
