  2. Consider two people in your life today that do not know Jesus. How can you pray for each of them specifically today? Can you plan a time to purposefully invite them to church, a Bible study, or engage them in spiritual conversation?

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I NEVER KNEW YOU; DEPART FROM ME, you workers of lawlessness.’ Matthew 7:21-23 (ESV)

The Roman Road Clearly Defines:

1. Who needs salvation

2. Why we need salvation

3. How God provides salvation

4. How we receive salvation

5. The results of salvation

We have a problem. We have a solution. We have a choice.

The Problem

10 As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” Romans 3:10-12 (ESV)

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 (ESV)

For the wages of sin is death… Romans 6:23a (ESV)

The Solution

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (ESV)

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 (ESV)

…But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23b (ESV)

The Choice -Receive or Reject God’s Gift

1. Believing in your heart about the free gift.

2. Receiving it by confessing Jesus as one’s personal Lord. We must accept that we’re all sinners, and decide to turn from our sinful ways and begin following God’s ways (REPENTANCE), believe Jesus is God’s Son who died and rose from the dead, and confess Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. When we do this, the Bible states we are fully forgiven, eternally saved, and adopted into God’s family! Amen!

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9-10 (ESV)

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13 (ESV)

Questions from Part 2

  1. What did you learn from the Romans: Road lesson? With the verses explained, do you feel comfortable sharing the salvation message? How so?
  2. What is the best way to explain to a non-believer the hope we have in Jesus Christ, when they seem to have no hope?
  3. Romans 5:8 speaks about our life pre-Christ. How does this verse make you think about God’s love for you/us?
