A majority of people say they can’t memorize things. That is a quick excuse and quite frankly, it just isn’t true. We can memorize things we want to memorize or things that are a priority and important to us. At work we have memorized things that we do on a consistent basis. When we put our mind to something we can memorize it. Memorizing scripture gives us a better understanding of God and His will for us. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path”. When we know God’s word and obey it, we are able to experience God at a deeper level and experience the freedom that comes only through obedience. Scripture Memory can be a powerful tool to deal with the attacks of Satan. James 4:7 says, “Satan will flee from you when you submit yourself to God.” Memorizing scripture transforms our thinking to that of Christ. It plays a pivotal role in our thoughts and in the renewal of our minds. Scripture serves as our formidable defense against the deceitful assaults of the enemy. Drawing near to God is facilitated as we cherish His Word. The empowerment and wisdom bestowed upon us by God’s Word become evident.
