We don’t grow spiritually by just adding more biblical doctrine to our life.
We don’t grow by just feeling something different emotionally.
We don’t grow by just behaving different externally.
We don’t grow by just performing many spiritual tasks/deeds/service.
What is the engine/motor/bullseye of spiritual growth? GOD’S WORD
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!
Ephesians 4:14-15 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
Romans 8:1-2 There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
Salutary Conviction: comes from the Holy Spirit…this conviction PULLS YOU TOWARDS CHRIST. We must keep feeling free… we must remember that we left the courtroom. This honors God when you remember that you are washed and forgiven. CONFESSION TAKES PLACE. Walk in the light.
Paralyzing Conviction: comes from Satan…this conviction PUSHES YOU AWAY FROM GOD. We feel paralyzed and bound up… we try and re-enter the courtroom because of our guilt. Satan wants us to soak in this misery and wants us to hold back. HOPELESSNESS AND DEFEAT. Walk in darkness.
